THE
BEGINNING
Dattatraya Anant Godse,
the brain behind Dagson Art, was
born to a middle-class family in 1910. Blessed with a creative
mind, he took up modelling Diploma course at the famed J.J.School
of Arts, Bombay. And soon he came out with flying colours in 1937,
he was picked up as chief Modeller by J.A.Ritchie & Co. an
eminent firm of architects in the pre independence city of Bombay.
During his years with J.A.Ritchie chartered Architect he also
acted as a visiting lecturer in Modelling at his Alma Mater, a
honour which he carried with elan for over a decade. Then between
1955-65, he was employed as a modeller for Bombay Municipal Corporation.
A plan was
chalked out in 1970, which found its ultimate fulfillment in the
conception of a partnership firm “DAGSON ART”.
ON 5th July of the same year, the Registrar of Bombay as “PARTNERSHIP
FIRM” duly registered the firm.
THE
IDEA AND ITS DEVELOPMENT
Mr. D.A.GODSE and his two sons Mr. Sharad and Mr. Manohar had
envisaged DAGSON ART as a specialist organization or creating
Architectural, Industrial as well as Engineering Plant scale Models.
To get at this idea they began using the highest technical standard
mixed with a devotion that comes only to pioneers.
Improvements
were introduced from job to job, a practice which endeared them
to may of their early patrons and bound the clients inextricably
with Dagson Art. Soon the word spread and the phrase “DAGSON
FOR MODELS”, was etched indelibly in the minds
of all those who sought high standards in their scale models.
And with the modelling becoming synonymous with Dagson Art, came
endearing relationships with a long list of reputed industries,
Engineering firms, Architects, business-relationship which have
grown stronger with the passing summers.
The industrial
scale models designed by Dagson Art have enabled score of entrepreneurs
to explain in minute detail their plans to interested parties
like financiers, investors & consultants.
Thus keeping pace with new demands, innovating
on its own and ever on the lookout for fresh challenges, Dagson
Art has taken rapid strides in past 15 years and today stands
way ahead in the modelling field of India.
Far from resting on its laurels Dagson Art is
pressing onwards to future expansion at various levels.
The firm has already developed its own moulded
plastic fittings, which is an important and almost indispensable
raw material for preparing chemical plant models. The firm has
also plans to manufacture other fittings required in engineering
scale models.
